Dahari and BV have worked together since 2015 to establish community-based marine management on the island of Anjouan, and build Dahari’s capacity as a leading organisation for marine conservation in the Comoros. BV has allocated a full-time resident programme manager to support Dahari since 2015.

Our partnership with Dahari led to the creation of the country’s first fisherwomen association and temporary closure in 2018, supported by over three years of catch monitoring data collected by communities. Activities have been initiated in a second coastal area on Anjouan in 2021.
